U.S. asks U.N. to do something about Iranian nukes
From the Telegraph.
Iran has proven nuclear facilities. Facilities they HID from the IAEA until its location was revealed by Iranian exiles. Traces of weapons grade uranium have been found there. Iran, a nation containing 90 billion barrels of known oil reserves, says it needs the reactor for energy. The Iranian Shahab 3 missile, built with North Korean technology, is capable of carrying a ton anywhere in the Middle East, including Israel and pretty much every U.S. base.
Even Davin would probably see this as pretty good evidence that an Islamic nation is thinking of making a nuclear-tipped missile.
Okay, let's play by the rules and go through the channels like good boys and girls. Shall we see how the U.N. handles it?
...Although Mr al-Baradei admits that the Iranians have deployed a variety of delaying tactics to prevent UN inspectors gaining access to secret nuclear facilities, he believes that they should be given more time to comply with their obligations under the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty.
American officials fear that many Europeans on the IAEA's 35-member board of governors, some of whose countries have lucrative trade ties with Teheran, will back Mr al-Baradei's position.
In other words, business as usual at the United Nations, the liberal's saviour of world peace. "Let's have some meetings. Let's have some expensive trips. Let's negotiate. Let's have another two-year wank session in New York over the issue. If we get mad, we'll pass a resolution. If we get REALLY mad, we'll put sanctions on Iran. We know that works, right?"
Deja vu all over again.
I'm on my knees praying that Israel saves our asses yet again. If not, a well-placed B-2 strike wouldn't suck.
