The last thing on Earth the Democrats want to see is a full-bore competent Republican politician as governor. They are basically trying to pretend McClintock doesn't exist.

Democrats would love for Arnold to drop out and leave your man as the only Repub opponent. Right now, the whole world is focusing on Arnold and it has nothing to do with what the Dems want. If McClintock starts to look like a threat of any sort, I guarantee that Davis will start mentioning him in his attack ads (if that's what you really want).

And when is the Republican party going to say to Arnold: "Ixnay on the ad about 'Crazy deficit spending!!!'"?
