Current Events » in reply to SDAI with clean fingernails and no real job arrogant and insensitive as usual

Sorry, suicide and those that think it's a form of protest = D.T.D.

No sensitivity is required in this case. This was no accident or heat of the moment craziness. The man attempted to kill himself before in Sweden. He has enough money to travel to all these WTO events but not enough brains to fill a child's Dixie cup. One has compassion for obsessed insanity - but no sympathy.

Protesters and the mob mentality don't arouse my inner sensitivity. Protests where people tear down things and destroy them are simply mobs of rioters - nothing more. Folks who participate in such will remain in the D.T.D. column. Its sort of excusable if their 17-20 and still completely clueless and probably have been hanging around the wrong friends. But after that it shows a lack of respect towards others in a manner that demonstrates these folks aren't really 'nice' people anyway and their message and goals are not only best discounted but preferably actively thwarted.

As for me and my ivory tower - there are no towers in the desert. Homes sprawl rather than raise up to avoid the heat rise and miserable existence for folks who have two story homes here. Regarding my job and clean fingernails - I am happy with both. I have gotten enough dirt, blisters and callouses and have earned them.

As for farmers, I know two and have a great-great grandfather who tilled the soils about the time Lincoln was writing the Gettysburg address. Most Americans have witnessed the expansion of the city and the shrinking of the farmlands. Farmers don't have it easy but you wont find many of them going crazy at WTO protests either. It's not what real farmers do.

Protesters have been a force at every major WTO meeting since 1999, when street riots disrupted talks in Seattle. Activists, who include farmers, union leaders and students, argue that free-trade rules benefit big business at the expense of the poor and the environment.

Let's see they quoted no farmers in the entire article. A Spanish "farm activist" and a Korean lobbyist who commits suicide. I seriously doubt any real farmers were there at all. I bet you a lot of the traveling circus that resides in SF, Seattle and New York made it there - as well as the professional socialist protesters from Canada and Europe. However among all those folks I bet no more than one or two, possibly NONE of them actually till the soil for a living.

You buy into all these protests easily - you hold the protest mentality. You fall into the traps neatly placed to snare anyone who is disgruntled with big business, Bush, or conservatives.

Unfortunately, it is all too easy to find a big business scr--ing its employees. However the punish business mentality never hurts these big businesses - and if anything MAKES THEM STRONGER! By imposing legislation and tons of little and big taxes and thousands of regulatios the small businesses that treat their employess fairly are all rubbed out - only the big businesses are left!

That's right the protesters and democrats always fighting "big business" really are working for big business! The unions are emasculated by the lack of small companies to offer alternative jobs and their members are desperate - not real good bargaining positions there. The more the Dems talk about the rich - the more they talk about raising taxes to take money away from the rich - they don't hurt the rich at all!!! They only end up sc---ing the upper middle class who were employing folks.

The big business folks know this and thats why some of them are very pro-democrat. They know that no "big-business" ever had a truer friend than an "anti-big business" democrat politician! Coca-Cola has been a monopoly for years and democrats helped to squash rising competition overseas. Pepsi-Cola throws their money at republicans to keep from being shut out of the legislative perks entirely.

If all these protesters want to do some REAL good - get them to promote small business tax breaks, regulation exemptions and incentives such as enterprise zones. Give small and medium size businesses a chance to compete and thwart the anti-trust atmosphere and monopolies that are out of control today. Big business is empowered by anti-business legislation - and they rule the earth today in large part because of the failure of anti-trust laws and the stifling of start-ups and the middle and upper middle class.

Ironic isn't it?

I bet you not ONE of the anti-business, anti-rich, anti-capitalist protesters understands this.

Commiting suicide doesn't bring attention to the farmers plight - it's merely paraded around by the media for their dog and pony freak sideshow and will also be utilized by the socialists as their martyr of the month to rally the faithful. The rest of the world will not blink an eye.
