Once you're registered, you flash your card and they let you vote, and your name is taken off the rolls to prevent you voting again. The registration process was a once-in-a-lifetime deal, and did not have to be repeated except when districts were re-apportioned or if you changed party affiliation. This scam is being introduced in twenty odd states, all railroaded through by Tea-Party nominated legislatures. Every single one. This is not a coincidence, its a conspiracy.
The people most highly affected by this law are the elderly, students, blacks, immigrants, the poor, i.e., people who are predominantly Democratic voters. Of course, in Texas, if you have a firearms carry permit, that counts as voter ID. Do you really think we're so stupid we can't figure this out?
Your apologetics may work fine with the same crowd who made similar impassioned defenses of poll taxes, literacy tests, and other cleverly designed scams to keep blacks out of the polls, but you're not fooling one person here. We know exactly what you're doing, and why you're doing it: if everybody votes, your gang can't win. And you know it.
