dU = Duh

You're absolutely correct. Depleted uranium is about as unradioactive as a metal can be and still be radioactive. Chances are good that the air I'm breathing is more radioactive, sitting here in my basement in radon-rich Pennsylvania. That's why they call it "depleted".

Depleted Uranium can cause heavy metal poisining. But you've got to ingest it. People who claim the dU ammunition causes cancer are just plain ignorant. The detection equipment at the airport wouldn't have made a distinction between this stuff and a block of lead, cuz it ain't "hot".

Drudge hyped it at the top of his page last night, and I heard it on Howard Stern this morning. But it's a total non-story.
