--The recall is a colossal political gamble which could actually result in a new, strong and popular Democratic Governor sitting in the State House, which would harm GOP election chances in California in 2004 and 2006.
Bingo.
It could also result in the election of an incompetent Republican who would be easily knocked off in the next gubernatorial campaign.
At last, perhaps too late, the light dawns.
