re: Links
That is also the first post-war evidence I've yet seen that Al Quaeda was involved with Ansar-al-Islam.
Links between al Qaeda and Ansar-al-Islam have been long established. However, this particular relationship was not enough on its own to prove any direct links between Saddam and al Qaeda, so nobody gave a hoot. Although there is some evidence that Saddam may have supported Ansar-al-Islam under the table in its war against the Kurds, this did not prove any Saddam tie-through to al Qaeda. In other words, Ansar-al-Islam may have dealings with both Saddam and al Qaeda, but not the two with each other. At least here.
