Hey..
...Cities in Orange County, San Diego and LA have many regions which now operate as 'Wal-mart economy zones' and are declining rapidly.
My criticism spoken - is spoken as a California native. The German blood goes back a ways on one side but my Great Great grandfather on the other side was the first California native in our family and his father arrived during the Gold rush days.
So don't give me any of this 'foreigner' stuff, bucko. I get a permanent free pass to bluster on about the good ol' days of CA whenever I like. (Like when Reagan was Governor!)
