I think we can survive the firing of "nonprofit, political and poll callers". Then again, it seems completely reasonable to assume that people who don't mind being called/notified/polled by these groups should be permitted to enjoy the interruptions. No problem. All that's apparently needed is a more detailed database, one specifically designed to outline exactly which organization is to be allowed to contact whom, and which is not.

Seems workable, and already half complete. The current signers to the do-not-call list signed up to be off the telemarketers’ lists. All that's needed are other do-not-call.gov sites for nonprofit, political and poll callers -- sites which I, personally, would likely ignore.

At any rate, the sites need to be set up in such a way where the physical choice to be called/not called would be ours, not the government's -- and certainly not the telemarketers'.
