The lawyers are in place, and waiting.

Under their philosophy that the "will of the people" is whatever the Democrats damn well tell the people it is, legal challenges to the recall are being prepared.

You can bet your ass there are already operatives out there ready to plant the idea in voter's heads that somehow they have been "cheated" of their vote. Hell, letters like this were in play in Florida before the first count was done.

The only hope is if the results are so one-sided that fighting for hundreds of votes would be futile. This is what happened in Florida in the 2002 election when the Republicans blew the Democrats out of the water in spite of the best efforts of the national Democratic party.

It's amazing how the myth has grown about Florida. One would think that poor Al Gore was just climbing into bed on election night when suddenly the Republicans stormed the polls with torches and axes. It wasn't the Republicans who flew a pre-assembled army of attorneys into Florida and started throwing monkeywrenches. The only thing that went wrong for the Democrats is, that for once, the Republcians gave as good as they got.
