Space/Science

Sigh, all that information online and I can't find what I need

One of my teachers told me once
If you want to know something know where to go look it up. If you still can’t find it, know where to ask. There are always people who know the subject much better than you do and are smart enough to tell you where to find what you need.

I was not an attentive student, but that stuck with me.

I need a second by second description of what happens when one of those “Really bad days comes along and a big rock falls out of the sky”. From atmospheric intrusion to impact.

I wore Google out, for almost three solid hours I entered every keyword I could think of, from “Meteor Impact” to “Bolide”. Real fun on a slow dial-up I might add. Some of those graphic intensive PDF files take a loooooong time to load.

If any of you can direct me to a website or reference source it would be greatly appreciated. Of all the places I found Habitable Zone has the best users I can think off.
