That kind of brainwashing is downright scary. You'll have to excuse me though when I say that I am just as concerned about the kind of right wing propaganda being dished up on so-called hot talk radio. Its accuracy level is about the same as Al Jazeera. And the tendency to conceive of everything in conspiracies is almost an identical rhetorical process.

While the Islamic media can make believe that the Mossad was responsible for 9-11, so too has America's right wing media convinced many Americans that TWA flight 800 was shot down by a missile, the OKC bombing was caused by Iraqi nationals, and Vince Foster was murdered. Its a very unfortunate state of affairs.

The media is a very powerful tool. It can shape our entire perception of reality. Like the Pakistanis in Blackfive's blog, we often accept what's dished up to us without question. We sort and select what facts we use and which ones we dismiss. Its very disconcerting. And can be very dangerous as well. It was on the basis of just such conspiratorial disinformation regarding the Waco tragedy that Timothy McVeigh cultivated enough hate to murder some 168 people in Oklahoma City. People act upon their beliefs and when their beliefs are wrong, so too are their acts.
