re: And just to make sure my comments aren't too biased
The planes also fly over the University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies on approach to Pearson Int'l Airport from the east. Not that it's likely, but there are probably people there who could build a heat-seeking missile. The possibility of pure mischief exists too and the school year has just begun (maybe someone was bored). To shoot down El Al specifically would only require a scope: the planes fly at a few hundred feet altitude, low enough to see their corporate logos painted on the tail stab. I'm sure arrival times would be readily available at the airport.
