"If the pro-space community can understand those who are against it, they can either shift their reasoning or even shift the other side's arguments.
It's also part of knowledge."
What exactly do you have in mind when you say "pro-space community".
Is a "pro-space community" a group of people who desire to spend tax dollars towards a space goal? Is it a group of people who generally want to spend tax dollars on space related projects "wisely"? Or perhaps it a group of people that realize that Space is part of our future, rather than some alien environment unconnected to the personal lives of the vast majority of people.
Space is, of course, important and has a connection to a majority of people. Space is critical to communications, weather forecast, climate and environmental montioring- space if nothing else, provides "high ground". The role of space is vital for a modern world, but space COULD be even more significant- for instance, it could be a place where large numbers of people travel through and a place where large numbers of people "work in"- both as telepresence and physically located. Space could could the source of the majority of the world's energy. Space could be a location where most of Earth's industry is located. Space could provide a number of new environments which could transform human reality and technology.
Space is the road to the infinite.
