I think a return to the moon could be a disaster if it is a big waste of resources. A return to the Moon that focuses on goals of clear value to the public or building infrastructure of real value in going elsewhere would be fine. I've seen far to many proposals however that are a big waste to feel comfortable with a lunar objective that does not clearly spell out the goals beyond that. An ISS style (big bucks little return) Moon program could spell the end of any chance to go beyond the Moon.
