Yes, well a close-loop life support system would be nice. But going to the moon isn't going to get it. Any system built for the Moon will simply use resupply.
I'm not convinced Mars needs it either. The mission architecture should be such as to include lots of redundancies. And you carry 2 years worth of life support needed for an abort and or have a fast track return (nuclear propulsion).
