Servitude: * By whom, MA, the North?
Do a search on "Jim Crow Laws". Do a search on "segregation". Pay special attention to the role of Woodrow Wilson, a Virginian, to the resegregation of the Federal Civil Service at the beginning of the 20th century. Do a search on "Ku Klux Klan". Do a search on "sharecropping". The last is a shared racial phenomenon, but poor whites could own land. Poor blacks had a much more difficult time doing that because of all the hoops they had to jump through. Cf. "Jim Crow Laws".
* Sorry, you lost me there. No Black and White water fountains in Minnesota where I was raised, ever.
Do a search on "de facto segregation". This is the fine art of maintaining separate neighborhoods by force of social pressure and "gentlemen's agreements". I grew up in upstate New York, and believe me, it existed and was pervasive. You didn't need a Whites Only waterfountain when blacks were never close enough to use it.

You contradict yourself. Twice.
