Timing
The tech stock boom capsized in March of 2000, and took the rest of the Dow with it. Since I had a lot of tech stocks, this date tends to stick in my mind. More than a few people around here blamed the government vendetta against Microsoft, but the fact that many tech stocks were grossly overvalued probably had more to do with it, and if anything, the Microsoft business was just a trigger. If it hadn't been that, it would have been something else.
