To date we've not a found a single weapon of mass destruction in Iraq. Nor have we have any evidence of any substantive linkage between Al Qeada and the Iraqi government. We went to war based upon a claim by the Bush administration that the Iraqi government represented a threat to American citizens here and abroad. Turns that wasn't true.

There was no case for war. Mr. Hitchens' grasping for straws at ephemeral "low-level" contacts is simply after-the-fact exaggeration and spin. Fact is, it was the war itself that brought together the fedayeen and the jihadists who now have a common enemy.

What's disturbing is the fact that the ties between Al Qaeda and the Saudis, Palestinians, Syrians and Iranians are far more substantial than anything even remotely alleged with Iraq.
