Standard Democratic Operating Procedure: If there's a legal loophole, screw our principles. Seen that a lot in the last few years.

Try and remember WHY a campaign finance reform law exists. Go back and listen to the reasons that were given. Listen to what the Democrats were saying.

The Democratic Party believes that the government should represent the people, not moneyed special interest groups.

The objective was to lessen the influence of money in elections. That's called a principle. Now, you may or may not agree with the basic concept. In point of fact, I don't think the law is necessary myself, and infringes on the rights of people to donate their own money as they see fit. To be blunt, my own principles say that Solos has every right to donate his cash.

I was simply pointing out that the Left was damn happy to load themselves down from a rich guy's pockets after having piously signed on to the idea that letting the rich shove their noses into politics was a bad idea.

Somehow it is very difficult to get the idea of hypocrisy across to some people.

And actually, the Left bitches quite extensively about the NRA's political influence.
