I have said for years that the drug war is a complete failure and that the only people who should be jailed for drugs are those who commit other crimes while intoxicated on drugs.
The criminal system provides for court imposed treatments for abusers of prescription drugs.
If you check the timeline, I think you will find that the maid was the one who first got the drugs for Rush, and in fact was the one who offered them to him in the first place.
The spin you would like to rely on, that abusing prescription drugs = crack abuse is not a similarity recognized in the law, btw.
But it must be galling to the left that a lonely guy like Rush, very ikely stoned on the air, still managed for years to show just how empty and and fatuous so many liberal policies are.
Will he make a comeback? who knows.
