Saying we're going to do "blah-blah" in fifty years is equivalent to saying: "problem too hard, we're doing nothing now". What were people proposing 50 years ago (1953)? That's about when von Braun published his "Mars Plan" in Colliers Magazine (the first serious proposal for sending people to Mars). What's currently planned by NASA towards getting people to Mars? Answer: Nada, nichts, zip, nothing, there is no manned Mars program. Fifty year plans are hog wash.
