His act to resign in the face of a popular uprising and acknowledgement of widespread voter fraud is courageous. It suggests that Mr. Shevardnadze truly has the interests of the Georgian people in mind. Hopefully this unconventional transition to a new government will remain peaceful and lead towards better times.
