The one thing you learn getting old is that things are seldom as bad as they seem. I have been listening to harbingers of doom from both sides for a long time and they have always been wrong.
If we still lived as simply as 1950 when there were no computers, VCR, DVD, microwaves, cell phones, walkin closets, cars good for 200,000 miles (1950 cars were shoddy), TV (most of us didn't have one in 1950) and medical care consisted of take two asprin and go to bed, we could still live on one income and taxes would probably be lower.
Republicans rale about lower taxes and entitlements and Dems rale about things like military spending, the Patriot Act, welfare, etc. I find myself on the conservative side of most issues but I also find some balance in the process.
I still get peeved about these domestic issues but I have learned to stand and watch.
