It's worth remembering that these priests of Gaea currently steer much of our industrial policies.
These aren't just nutcases. They are nutcases keeping us from finding oil, developing nuclear energy, building infrastructure and roads, growing our food, utilizing our resources, and pretty much doing anything that changes our environment in any way whatsoever.
The first Earth Day, the idea was to do no harm. Nowadays, the idea is to do nothing. The existence of technology and Western ideas of progress are evil in and of themselves, regardless of whether or not they are damaging the environment.
