re: Magnetic field

Understanding the Earth's magnetic field and what is happening to it could be more important than worrying about the next big impact from an asteroid or comet.

Probably not Steve. A teraton yield impact vs. the doubling of the background radiation is not much of a contest. We'll still have 60 miles of atmosphere scattering the incoming particles.

Dont' sweat the small stuff.
