I've heard similar stories from others.
Me and my kids got the shot last week. First time I ever got one, and no side effects that I noticed. My wife, who works in a hospital, has gotten one every year, and had hers a few months ago.
The shot is not specifically aimed at the version going around, but it's close enough to at least help.
The vaccine is also available in a spray, but I heard that this is a "weakened virus" version, not a "killed virus" version like the shot, and may have different side effects.
