I hardly see that as an exercise of freedom. More like indoctrination into a dangerous cult, and all forms of religion are potential cults. Not that far removed from the bizarre, irrational behaviour of Christan sects that allow their children to die rather than obtain modern medical care for them when they fall ill. Responsible government has a duty to take measures to protect children in such circumstances, and to throw their crazy parents in jail.
The goal of all intelligent life should be to explore, understand, and ultimately conquer the universe, and to become "God". Now that's really something worth believing in.
