re: Odd spam...

I don't get much spam usually - no more than maybe three spams a week. However in the last two weeks the spam monsters have somehow decided I need online prescription drugs and 42 lifetimes worth of viagra. These clone spams always have different senders and they are sent out via some sort of spam-bot that is generating and sending to random e-mail addresses, like a ready teller code hack looking for the PIN.

Your e-mails look linked obviously and someone is having some sort of fun by inserting OZ quotes.

Off hand I'd say that the OZ quotes are a personal joke and that he's put them in there to see how many real responses he gets. Then he has compiled a list of e-mails which have live users at the end.

Take this quote from the Master Key as a guide:

"I am here."

"I know that," answered the boy, trembling, "but WHY are you here?"

"Because you have touched the Master Key of Electricity, and I must obey the laws of nature that compel me to respond to your summons."

"I--I didn't know I touched the Master Key," faltered the boy.

"I understand that. You did it unconsciously.

To the spammer the "master key" is the internet and it gets into everyones "home". He's using the quotes as an eclectic parable as well as curious bait for his future spams.

That's one WAG anyway.

I'd just delete them and forget about them. I don't even open spam when it arrives but press CTRL and select all of them and start deleting them en masse straight from the IN box.

The internet is chock full of freaks.
