I don't think anyone thought he was talking about WMDs.
I suspect that Saddam's revelations are being held under tight security, no matter what he's saying or not saying.
If this story is accurate (and this is not guaranteed), this news is out there because it was deliberately leaked. It is interesting to speculate on why one would leak the news that Saddam was revealing the locations of money and arms.
