The problem is not whether people know but whether they are

Who can seriously dispute the Bushes are a bunch of crooks? You have this Harken issue with Bush that the law clearly shows is insider trading. Because Poppy appointed all the investigators he wasn't charged. Harken was also mixed up with BCCI one of the biggest frauds of all time. His dealings with the Baseball Stadium in Texas were corrupt.

Cheney did contracting with Halliburton in Iraq despite the sanctions. They misstated their profits to divest an insurance company. They've been caught several times in defrauding the government. This is under his watch, a Vice President. Now he may be internationally indicted by bribing government officials in Niger for contracts.

Bush's sons all narrowly avoided prison in the S&L frauds. Poppy made a deal for someone on gold leases on leaving government and then went to work for them. The Carlysle Group scammed people with the Crusader by using connection in the government to be pretending to consider it while they floated the company, and then Rumsfled (the Carlysle founder's old roomate) dumped it.

Perle has been caught with conflicts of interests several times. Neil Bush is going around trading on his name making money with China.

People know these things, but for some mysterious reason they don't care whether their leaders are crooks or not.
