re: NASA TV

I have been watching NASA TV for years now and agree it kind of sucks. It is an outlet for the news media and is not formatted for general public consumption. It's not like watching the discovery channel. Perhaps they can't expend the money to make it more entertaining. Personally the best parts are the broadcasts of the launches, landings, and asteroid & comet fly-bys, and regular coverage of the ISS activities. Most of this is presented in very technical terms and I'm sure the general publics eyes would glaze over watching it. However the other programming seems to be geared for children, and education. It would be nice to see more professional programming but maybe we should be happy with what we get. It could be killed all together if the budget cuts get really bad.

Well, I'm glad it's not like The Discovery Channel and I'm glad that they manage to squeeze a bit of science and physics tidbits. Some as you say are more geared for kids, but I prefer my son or daughter to catch one or two of those segments on a Saturday morning than what is actually 'geared' for kids on the regular tv channels. Since it deals with real science in sometimes real-live time, I don't even mind seeing the still screen shots in which they often show upcoming scheduled events. If science is 'dressed up' too much, it starts to tilt towards scifi, imho.
