Either corporations didn't trust in ESA's socialists' ability to succeed, or Europeans (and Brits) weren't as inclined to be moved by a sponsor's potential appearance in space. Regarding "sponsors," even Ferrari got a FREE ride with ESA's socialists... :-(

In exchange, ESA's socialists couldn't even manage to persuade Ferrari to place ESA's logo on one of Ferrari's high profile racing cars. Meanwhile, I presume BLUR's 8 note "I've arrived" song was created and incorporated into the project for free.
