Instead of "cracking down" on the people who are only reaching for the brass ring...

...how about seriously prosecuting the people who employ them?

No jobs, no immigrants. No kidding.

If the government takes the house for employing an illegal to do the gardening, then we would see a change. If the people employing illegals in their businesses faced serious jail time and fines that would force them into bankruptcy, the attraction would be much less.

The southwest can complain all they want about the increased burden. Complain to your neighbors who hold up the bait for people to come over the border. Turn them in.

You heard me. Rather than demand the hides of the faceless poor, turn in your boss, your neighbor, your kid's best friend's mom, the agribusiness exec at the club. Turn in the club! Who are all those people out there grooming the golf course, anyway? Turn in everyone you know who employs even one illegal. The underground economy might be underground, but it's not invisible. You will have made a small dent, and done your civic duty to help alleviate the terrible burden placed on your states by the illegal business practices of your neighbors. You would lose all your friends, you say? What kind of people do you hang out with?

The illegals come here at great personal risk to make money for their families. The people who employ them do so to get an edge over their competition, or to save money on their household expenses. Whose reason is better for what they do? Who really deserves the attention of armed people in uniform?

The fault, dear Tech, is in ourselves.

Mary Anne
