I have a lot of confidence in the technical skills on this project

Remember, Galileo was crippled when its high-gain antenna did not deploy, yet they managed to get an astounding amount of data back anyway, the equivalent of shoving the contents of a fire hose through a soda straw. Even if something is permanently damaged, if the Rover winds up working at all (instruments and even a rudimentary data link) I'd bet we still get a lot out of it.
