Poor Dean. The Left is so fickle...
Maybe the author of the article isn't a "Bush Hater," but I doubt if he's a prominent member of the Bush fan club, either.
You know, maybe when the primary strategy of our enemies is demoralization and the use of casualties as a political weapon, weeping and making speeches on international television about the horrible impact of their strategy isn't the brightest idea in the world.
And in real life, minimizing casualties is not the top priority of a military strategy, otherwise surrender and retreat would be the only two options. Winning is the top priority. Our enemies certainly don't care about their own casualties.
Bush is personally pinning Purple Hearts on wounded soldiers. You don't see that in the papers, but maybe that's a bit more appreciated in some corners than a fancy speech. He also strongly backs the military, both personally and financially, which maybe also gets appreciated more than a speech about "feeling their pain." You don't see this in the news. You see this in the military blogs and letters from overseas.
While we're pontificating on how badly Bush is treating the military, an interesting data point in all this would be a poll of those actually in the military to see what their opinions are.
Oh, wait. Here's one.

I guess Kerry is the Chosen One now. Also, the opinion of the military.
