Pitiful attitude

Space is about understanding our past and our future... it is about taking steps into what will be our home for the future of all humanity... Just because I may never go there personally doesn't keep me from seeing every move we collectively make into space for the triumph it is...

When the native Hawaiians first came to this island one staggeringly huge mountain dominated their horizon...Mauna Kea. They had no reason to think that there was anything of value to be found up at the top of the mountain...there were no plants or animals, very little water... But I bet it was no more than a year after their arrival before people ventured there- because thats what people do...climbing up over lava rock with no shoes in the freezing cold and thin air- it couldn't have been easy...

When they explored the summit they found it to be a divine place... they also found riches up there, basalts that formed under glaciers, forming an unusually hard rock for use for tools... they formed an infrastructure to include this place... religious pilgrimages to the summit, and quarries to harvest the riches up there...

The fact is you never know what riches are within your reach, until you make the effort to find out how far you can reach...

Some humans try to reach, others dont try to even dream... where do you fall in this spectrum?
