Maybe I need to get a little ghoulish, or at least induce squeamishness, here?
I've known people who suffer horrible pain, even hellish agony, most their lives
due to severe and critical burns over most their bodies and subsequent scarring.
Astronauts and test-pilots are held in high esteem here on HZ, but I'm sure that even you
know of pilots [military or civilian] who have ended up in burn wards.
Why am I posting this, Steve?
I challenge you!
Ask anybody who has suffered severe burns!
They'll tell you that a 'few seconds' or minutes of burn agony feels like an eternity.
