This is just one of a myriad of superbly dumbass ideas that get proposed in Sacramento every day. This idiot would probably support building codes based on this. Hey, it's not like he has to pay for it, right?

We closely escaped laws that would have required Californians to buy "low water" washing machines, or front-loaders. I don't want a front loader. A lot of people don't want front loaders.

The kind of person who thinks that a law making everyone a vegetarian is a swell idea tends to be drawn into politics. They start out on zoning boards or condominium boards, work through city councils in loon preserves like Berkeley, San Francisco, or Santa Cruz, and eventually wind up in Sacramento. I suppose from their they wind up in Washington, although the low overall loon-to-normal ratio in California as a whole tends to filter them out.
