They are concentrated in preserves, and tend to make a lot of noise, making it seem like there's a lot more of them. Kind of like a turkey farm.

I remember fondly driving through Loon Country with the windows rolled up and loons walking right up to the car. They made it clear you were not supposed to feed them or get out of your car. Loons can be very dangerous.

I thought they closed that back during the Reagan years in the 80's. ;-) I think they might've reopened it in the Clinton era...

Now they have expanded them to whole cities and parts of cities clearly identified on the loon map that the give you as you cross the California border.

Californians as whole get a bad rap as if they're somehow strange and abnormal. Now really - let's be objective here - how abnormal can they be? After all, I am a California native.*
