Are you still hot about Jimmy Carter's award?
How is last year's winner, Shirin Ebadi, a symbol of left-wing manipulation of the Nobel Peace Prize? She has worked within a repressive society, her own, to champion human rights, using the law, at great personal risk, without brandishing a single weapon. Her struggles with the government of Iran have done more to help the people there as anything the US government has done in the region in the last 20 years. She has also set an example of courage that her people can follow as they seek to restore democracy to Iran. (We remember the Shah and how he got to be Shah, don't we?) The Peace Prize served notice to Iran's present government that the world is watching, and offers a protection of sorts to her work.
George Bush is unlikely to win the Peace Prize because he started a war.
There are hundreds, no, thousands of people in the world who have done great things in the cause of peace and justice that didn't involve sending the Marines. My guess is they all need the prize money more than George does. He can spend ours.
