I can't imagine the CEV would have some kind of orbital module in front of it, like the Soyuz or the Shenzhou (and depending on the mission and the spacecraft to dock to, a different one).
That would make modularized versions cheaper to build but the launch escape tower would have a lot more mass to eject.
