For Odin: Ok let's try this again... "Over one million Iraqis..."
Over one million Iraqis are believed to be missing in Iraq as a result of executions, wars and defections, of whom hundreds of thousands are thought to be in mass graves.
That was from the State Department
You made up a strawman --"millions of Iraqis killed in deathcamps"-- to bolster your attempt at sarcasm. Why not simply admit it and resolve to sin no more?
I had heard the figure of "millions" early on when the mass graves were being discovered last April. It stuck in my head. I don't need to inflate the number of victims of Saddam Hussein to make the point. If the number 455,000, or any other figure, had been repeated enough I'm sure I would have quoted that.
...you're right, I don't believe he's as bad as they've made him out. I don't think he's a madman or worse than Hitler.
Hitler was responsible for millions more deaths and a lot more suffering than Hussein. Hitler encouraged his people to focus on the dark sides of their psyches and to block out any feelings of compassion or warmth for those the Reich considered subhuman. He fanned the flames of anti-semitism into a conflagration.
You don't see it do you? As people become mental contortionists to villify Bush, they find that along with this contortion they have to lie to themselves about Saddam - "I don't believe he's as bad as they've made him out."
The dark side of their psyches is emerging. It's tricky isn't it? You probably never even thought about how subtly one has to dismiss mass graves, amputations, branding, raping, torturing and every depravity known to man?
One of the links described death marches for Kurds. Another how victims in hospitals were summarily executed and used for medical experimentation.
How exactly do you measure evil? Is it purely numerical? Is it a combination of numerical deaths with torture and human suffering?
Basically, I am watching the left trip all over themselves and their dark sides in a race to demonize Bush. I see it in you, Greg, Don, Lindy, and others here - and it is now the predominant trait of the anti-Bush parrots squawking in the media and on the web.
It's completely invisible to you all. I know that. I know the natural reaction to criticism (or perceived criticism) is violent denial. But I also know that I have to at least point this detrimental and dichotomous behavior out when given an opportunity.
True pacifists don't decry Bush or this war. True pacifists know that anger and hatred are the root of violence and killing. When you see a screaming protester - they are simply manifesting the reverse polarity of what they are emotional about.
I know,"What the heck did that last sentence mean?"
It means that people are most emotional about things which they have the least complete understanding. Scientifically, quite simply, it means that a sine wave swings equal distances in both directions from its line of equilibrium:

Thoughts: "Feelings about War"
If this wave represents the sum of a mind's thoughts "feelings about war" then the center line would be a balanced view. The top side would be love of war and the bottom side is hate of war. Basically, if one really HATES war - one will also cycle around to the point where one really LOVES war. This imbalance is made manifest by both people who are for and against wars - really they are two sides of the same coin. Scientifically, both protesters and war-mongerers are birds of a feather:
LOVE OF WAR

HATE OF WAR
A truly balanced individual is never riled by hatred of war any more than they are strongly pro-war. War is effectively a non-issue to them and exerts no power over them. The concept of war is thus closer to total equilibrium:
LOVE OF WAR

HATE OF WAR
As you may or may not have noticed, no one can ever be completely on equilibrium on any topic and that they will always exist a certain amount of swing from positive to negative and vice-versa. Even as I try to make this post as unemotional as possible I know I fail and that too many little barbs and jabs slip into what would otherwise be a completely balanced post.
But anyways when you see someone screaming about corruption, promiscuity, what-have-you - one can immediately see that they are off equilibrium on these topics and still themselves have issues with them. Obvious ones like Jim and Tammy Faye Baker or Falwell and Swaggert are easy examples of this "two sides of the same coin" expression - much as are Muslims showing their "hatred" of Satan while stoning pillars, all while completely failing to realize that "Satan" is hate! rabid war protesters and folks who see scheming and conspiracies all over the Bush administration are equally off this line of equilibrium and their emotionalism can tell the trained observer about their own hang ups and issues with which they still need to obtain balance.
You wont find these concepts discussed on any blog. They are very advanced concepts and are not really easily understood until one really spends some time with them. The surface mind dismisses them as gobbledy-gook until one actually takes the time to really understand them.
Everyone here, me included, reveal lots about their various imbalances unintentionally. However when you know what to look for one can use this observation technique to achieve greater balance and understanding in one's life and a peace of mind that truly is beyond the wildly swinging emotional highs and lows that get worse over time if one does not seek to balance ones understanding.
I can't get all upset about the people that hate Bush, think he's Satan or a chimp, etc. It just doesn't register that strongly on the list of my imbalances. And because I realize this I try to keep in check those emotions whenever they do make an appearance.
Remember...equilibrium is the key to less resistance and progressive motion. In the mind, equilibrium leads to peace of mind and is manifest as understanding:

Vastly emotional thoughts disrupt the entire consciousness of an individual and they corrupt their minds with these imbalances. These waves and thoughts are always interfacing so one wildly imbalanced thought can literally lead to complete obsession. Anti-Bush folks often manifest this contamination and their whole lives crumble around them in a sea of hate.
Naturally, they blame Bush for all of this anger and fail to see their unhappiness is completely controlled by them.

That's all for today's lesson. ;-) I certainly hope the graphics came out ok.
