Millions of species on Earth, none use radio. The only common ideas between our species will probably be reward and punishment, delivered directly to them. A doggie biscuit and they're man's best friend. Otherwise they have to be domesticated or ignored and barriers built between us and them -- mosquito netting, or electrified steel-reinforced concrete barriers with gun turrets... hey, maybe T-Rex didn't experience a mass extinction event on that planet. Or maybe we'll need a giant roach hotel, a whole planet infested with giant trilobytes! Or maybe they'll all be amphibious tool-using squids, who have dominated every part of their planet (reef?) and colonized space. Not much common ground there. In fact maybe they won't use radio, they'll simply flock together and rely on visual signals.
