I didn't want to drag the 2000 election into this.
All I know is that a perfectly good voting system that had worked well for years in my precinct--punch cards--was tossed out in favor of oddball computers at ruinous cost and complexity because some dimbulbs couldn't figure out how to effectively poke a prescored hole in a card with a sharp object, even with special equipment, aid readily available, and new cards handy if you screwed one up.*
And I know who was pushing it on us, trying to convince everyone that the system wasn't working. It wasn't the Republicans. Yet the latter are getting all the crap thrown at them for trying to somehow "fix" the new computer systems.
.
*I'm sorry, but someone who can't figure something out at that level of simplicity probably shouldn't be picking our leaders in the first place. I realize that this is not a popular view, since the objective for most politicians is to have the voters be as stupid as humanly possible.

- Yes, but fortunately the Florida democrat attempt to steal the election failed
- Preventing a theft is not a bad thing

- Lack of physical coordination and inability to see well are not always hallmarks of stupidity.
- Funny how the dem story only holds up if one ignores what the dems actually did (n/t)
