Years ago there was another JPL project called "SEASAT". This was the first space based operational use of Synthetic Aperature Radar (SAR). After reaching orbit, SEASAT began down linking fascinating data about the ocean and geological features. Amongst this data were ocean pictures showing these funny "V" patterns. At the vertex of most of the "V" patterns were large ocean ships. However there were some "V" patterns that had no surface ships at the vertex. The US Department of Defense became very concerned about this new discovery. Supposably much of the data from SEASAT suddenly became classified. SEASAT then had a mysterious short circuit that rapidly drained its power systems and terminated the project.
