Jody, where this is coming from:

A media that posts days of headlines every time Romney farts in an elevator, while paying no attention at all to a sitting President's "domestic economic policy," "severe international affairs crisis," and "budget deficit."

Try and imagine how Bush would have been treated if embassies had been attacked on the 2004 anniversary of September 11, and his response was to go campaign in Vegas. Obama clocked his 100th golf round sometime in June. Bush stopped in 2003 after 24. We all know why. There are countless examples like this.

Romney's basic numbers are right, although he should have factored out Medicare and Social Security to make the income tax/benefit ratios valid.

As far as recipients leaning toward the Democrats? If you focus on other benefits paid for by income taxes (welfare recipients, food-stamp users, Medicaid, public housing, etc.) the percentage of people supporting the Democrats ranges from two-thirds to eighty percent.

The fact is, dependence on the government does encourage voting for those who will keep the cash flowing.

And the Democrats want even more dependence. Heck, how many liberals here think we should be dependent on the government for all of our medical care? Even now, government's percentage of medical spending is approaching the halfway point.

A couple of statistics:

In 1967, there were about 67 workers for everyone getting Federal disability. That number is now at 16. In 1950 there were 16 workers for everyone on Social Security. That number is now less than 3. This trend is across the board.

Our debt cracked $16 trillion at the opening of the Democratic convention, which not surprisingly, made no headlines. Four years now of trillion-plus deficits.

We are out of other people's money, and the Democratic Party wants to keep the dependency trend rising.

Look at the chart. Is this a good trend?

We are seeing what happens in European democracies when a voting majority is dependent on government spending and the math finally hits the fan.

I hear a lot about things being "insensitive," "shocking," "selfish," and many others. Oddly nobody seems that concerned about "true."
