how permanent would a teraformed Martian atmosphere be?
Raoul asked: How can the atmosphere, created through terraformation, remain on Mars, knowing its mass is too weak and the Sun is getting hotter?
I've wondered about that too. If at some point in the probably rather distant future we created a thicker, warmer, friendlier atmosphere on Mars, wouldn't it just seep away into space over time? Any ideas about the rate of such a loss (if indeed it would occur)? Would it render pointless the herculean effort required to terraform?
