Does anyone care to speculate why the subsurface shpericals appear shiney/metalic?

While those on the surface do not?

Could this be a key to understanding their chemistry?

Could Iron or nickel in the rocks &/or soil be fused into such sphericals during an impact event given Mars' low atmosperic pressure? What would polish them when they are below the surface? or would they just be protected when below ground from the weathering effects of a CO2 Atmosphere?

Interesting stuff!
