What does the household survey show?
The payroll survey covers existing businesses but lags at catching new businesses. There is a large gap between what the two surveys indicate. Using my own town as an example, I've seen many new businesses open up in the past several months. Each of those businesses has created new jobs, but none of them are likely to be reported on the payroll survey. The household survey is conducted monthly by the Census Bureau. Has anyone seen the results of the latest one?
